ABOUT THE ART FOX:
Cindy Teresa Chou Lisica, PhD, is an Asian-American art historian, curator, professor, international art tour guide, and gallerist currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area with an eye for collaboration. Cindy has lived in several cities in the US and abroad in Asia and Europe, developing friendships and professional affiliates around the world with especially active connections in France, UK, Japan, Taiwan, and China. She speaks fluent French and basic Mandarin and Japanese, and is working on developing her skills in Italian and Spanish.
Cindy has previously owned and operated two innovative art galleries since 2014 (Revision Space in Pittsburgh and Cindy Lisica Gallery in Houston and beyond). She has also held museum positions at The Warhol in Pittsburgh, The Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) Los Angeles, The Menil Collection in Houston, and Tate Britain and Tate Modern in London and has organized and installed museum exhibitions internationally in Paris, Shanghai, Beijing, and Tokyo. As an educator, she has tutored in several areas of the Humanities and served as a Professor of Art History at the Savannah College of Art and Design (2019-2026), Houston Baptist University (2017-2019), University of Houston (2015-2017), and University of Pittsburgh (2011-2014). She has also taught Study Abroad courses and co-curated exhibitions in Japan and France, in addition to her extensive travel both independently and with selected small groups.
Cindy has also published several exhibition catalogs, articles, and reviews. Her most recent publication is a ten-chapter e-book, Global Perspectives in Modern Art: Turning Points of the Twentieth Century (Kendall Hunt: 2024). She also holds professional certifications in the Care of Historic and Fine Art Photographs, Appraisal of Japanese Woodblock Prints (ISA), Foreign Languages at Work - Japanese (EDI), Art and Design Reference Sources for Library and Information Scientists (Art Libraries Society, Victoria and Albert Museum), Developing Educational Practice (Centre for Learning & Teaching in Art & Design), Copyright Compliance in Art and Archives, and Digital Image Training for Museums (Tate Britain).
When she’s not traveling, Cindy is hanging out with her dogs, riding motorcycles on and off-road, shopping and dining local spots, hiking in the regional parks with friends, and playing drums in her band, sub•ject.
